Château La Villatade is located 10 minutes from Carcassonne on the foothills of Montagne Noire. After 30 years spent in new technologies, Richard and Sophie, the new owners since 2016 wanted their vineyard to be in accordance with the principles of biodynamics: a sustainable, clean and environmentally conscious viticulture. The terroir shared between shales, sand and limestone, allows the production of wines with a unique expression. On the 37 acres of vineyard we produce around 40.000 bottles per year of highly rated wines, in AOP “Minervois” & IGP “Pays d’Oc” appellations. As soon we arrived in 2016, we began converting the estate to biodynamic farming and we reduced the yields to 10 HL per acre. Today, the vineyard is cultivated in compliance with the HVE specifications (high environmental value) and is HVE3 certified, the most demanding level of the environmental certification system for agricultural and wine-growing farms. This label allows the consumers to be sure that the wine they are tasting is a quality wine from a clean and environmentally responsible agriculture.
