Once upon a time there were the 2016 Primeurs. That year, the Châteaux Sigalas Rabaud, Rabaud Promis, Lafaurie Peyraguey, La Tour Blanche and Rayne Vigneau created a box offering an exceptional assortment of each of their Grand Cru.
The idea seduced to such an extent that in just a few hours, all the boxes were sold. This is where it all begins: to unite the best of their vines, but also their talents and their characters to create a prestigious cuvée, together.
The 5 Premiers Grands Crus Classés in 1855 of Sauternes come together to create an oenological dream: in one bottle, reveal all the magic and diversity of Bommes, one of the grand terroirs of Sauternes. Each of these Grands Crus has its own identity, personality, and singularity: their union composes a wine unique in the world, the Cuvée 5+.
The Cuvée 5+ is an absolutely unique oenological journey in the heart of the Bommes terroir and its superb mosaic of vineyard parcels. It is from this terroir that it draws its incomparable complexity,
today sublimated by an innovative dynamic.
It is in the heart of the Sauternes vineyard that Bommes is located. Bordered to the west by the Ciron, it is on this land that the 5 Premiers Grands Crus classés 1855 of Sauternes are located. The presence of the Ciron, tributary of the Garonne, is key for the overripening of grapes: responsible for the morning mists in autumn, it promotes the gradual development of Botrytis Cinerea. The vines wait patiently, every year, for the gradual invasion of this noble rot. The harvest, according to tradition, takes place by successive selecting, each grape being picked only if perfectly "roasted". The love of a job well done, the transmission of know-how, mutual aid and sharing are important values for these 5 Châteaux. "We are aware that the future is built on solid foundations that require respect for our terroir and the vines that we have inherited."
