“NFT solutions are not a trend because they are so adapted to the problems of the wine world, offering real solutions”
For 20 years, Laurent David had a career in tech as head of Nokia Europe then at Apple where he launched the IPhone across Europe. In 2019, the French native decided to settle down in Saint-Emilion, not far from his home town of Bergerac, and purchased the boutique Grand Cru Classé, Château Edmus. In 2020, he founded the Wine Tech association that initially grouped together 30 wine-related start-ups. The group has now grown to over 110, all of them reflecting upon how Web3 could impact the industry across-the-board. At the 2023 Wine Paris & Vinexpo Paris, he launched a white paper compiling thoughts on how tech can impact traceability, royalties, experience, distribution and even the environment, to name a few.
Three things you’ll learn in this podcast:
=> How NFT’s can help wine distribution and communication and combat wine fraud
=> How they will drastically reduce carbon footprint
=> How robots should play a more important role in the future world of wine tech
