Irem was raised in Istanbul where she got a degree in chemistry from Istanbul Technical University and later spent several years studying and working abroad in the UK, Spain, Germany and the United States and also in Turkey. She is currently the Business Development and Sales Director of BevZero, previously known as ConeTech, a company specializing in alcohol adjustments, dealcoholization, and low to no alcohol product creation from a base of spirits, wine, beer or even cider.
